One of the smaller Indian cavalry contingents with only four silver medal recipients on the roll. Last sold by Toad Hall in 1992 for £100.
Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.
I collect primarily QSAs to Indian Recipients.

Thank you David. The silver medal to Bhagta Singh sold for a hammer price of £260 at DNW last month so this one should be similar?

I imagine so. Probably one of the 200 sowars reluctantly despatched by India on the Bavarian to form a remount depot in Natal in March 1902.

I have already written about the 11th Bengal Lancers at post number 62342 ( www.angloboerwar.com/forum/5-medals-and-...contingent?start=276 )
I have been able to acquire a QSA now, to the same regiment, a medal once in the collection of a confrere here. This recipient is a rare awardee of the 1911 Coronation Medal with the "Delhi" clasp ( in silver not the photocopy that I presently can afford)

2198 Mohammed Aslam Khan
11th Bengal Lancers
[/color]

O.B.I. 1st Class
I.G.S. 1854-95 with clasp for Hazara 1891
I.G.S. 1895-1902, with clasps for Relief of Chitral 1895, Malakand 1897 and Punjab Frontier 1897-9
Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (2198 Jamedar Mohd. Islam Khan (sic), 11th Bengal Lcrs.)
Tibet Medal 1903-4, no clasp
Great War Medals
1911 Coronation with Delhi clasp

Mohammed Aslam Khan (note different spelling on medal) entered the 11th Bengal Lancers on 11 July 1889. His family connection with the Indian Army dated from 1861 when his grandfather was a Ressaldar in the Sikh Irregular Cavalry and for a time, his uncle, Risaldar-Major Mahommed Akram Khan, was his immediate superior in the Bengal Lancers. Entering the regiment in 1889, he was promoted to Jemadar in January 1896, Risaldar in November 1903 and Risaldar-Major in March 1917.
Through his extensive military service Mohammed Aslam Khan was awarded the I.G.S. 1854-95 with clasp for Hazara 1891; the I.G.S. 1895-1902, with clasps for Relief of Chitral 1895, Malakand 1897 and Punjab Frontier 1897-98(Action at Landikai. Operations in Bajour and in the Mohmand Country); the Q.S.A. with three clasps; the Tibet Medal 1903-4, no clasp and Great War Medals for service in the Mahsud operations and in Mesopotamia. He was awarded the O.B.I. 2nd Class c.1914 and the 1st Class in 1916 (London Gazette 3 June 1916).

Evidence of the 1911 Delhi clasp is the addendum to the 1911 Delhi Durbar Medal roll (WO100/400) where the 134 recipients are noted.
Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.
I collect primarily QSAs to Indian Recipients.
