Thank you both for the additional information on the group to Carrick which will be very useful to the purchaser on Thursday.

The estimate is a very modest £340-360.

The group to Carrick beat its estimate (!) and sold for a hammer price of £800.

The group to Carrick that hammered for 800 - the late Irv Mortenson paid a lot less for it.

Group of eight - mounted as worn.

QSA (2) Cape Colony, South Africa 1902, 4734 L/Cpl V. Wilson, 16th Lancers
1914-15 Trio to Pte/Sgt on pair, 1367 Pte V. Wilson North'd Yeo,
1939-45 Atlantic & Africa Stars (NA 1942-43) Clasp & War Medal.

Lot includes wound badge No B200498. The Victory Medal has been lightly rubbed on naming, GVF. Lot also includes Condolence slip & Official letter stating that he died on the 12th March 1943 whilst serving as an engineer on the SS 'BARON KINNARD.' An enlistment certificate for the North'd Hussars & 12 Lancers is included. His ship was sunk by U621.

Defence and War Medals 1939-45, unnamed

Cecil Aubrey Erskine Miller was born in Cork in 1880 and was commissioned into the Cork R.G.A. in 1900. He served with the R.G.A. in South Africa and also with the 4th (Militia) Battalion, King’s Liverpool Regiment in 1902. He was promoted to Captain in 195 and resigned his commission in 1912.

He emigrated to Canada but returned in 1916 and served in Ireland, Egypt and Palestine with 440 Siege Battery, becoming Major in 1918.
