Thanks Neville for doing the facial comparison. At least we do have one of Frankland for sure. I've now got images of all the major players; Hofmeyr, Haldane, Frankland, Rosslyn, etc. and the frequently, perhaps too frequently, photographed WSC. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!

Found this in Navy and Army Vol 9. I know it's piling on but it is the armoured train, still being put to use.

Forgive the re-post, but I now have the names of the officers in the Hospital Ship Maine photograph.

They are:
Back (left to right): Lieutenant G.M.A. ELLIS, Rifle Brigade (wounded, Potgieter's Drift, 06/02/1900); Lieutenant D.F. CAMPBELL, Lancashire Fusiliers (wounded, Venter's Spruit, 20/01/1900); Captain SANDBACH, King's Royal Rifles; Lieutenant Jack S.S. CHURCHILL, South African Light Horse (wounded, Hussar Hill, 12/02/1900).
Front: "Piece of armoured train from Chieveley"; Lieutenant P.D. STEWARD, 2nd Bn. Gordon Highlanders; Lieutenant R.S. WILSON, 2nd Bn. Lancashire Fusiliers (severely wounded, Spion Kop, 24/01/1900); Captain THORP, Rifle Brigade; Major E.W. THISTLETHWAITE [Thistlewayte], King's Royal Rifles (wounded, Spion Kop, 24/01/1900); Lieutenant McLEAN, Imperial Light Infantry; Lieutenant R.F. MEIKLEJOHN, Warwickshire Regiment.

The names come from the caption to this image reproduced in The Graphic, 5 May 1900, p. 656. This also states that the photograph was taken while the Maine was in Durban Harbour.




So, Payton, here we have a photograph of the elusive "Mr Jack Churchill" .....

Slightly better copies of your three images. They are very small in "Navy & Army" so are never going to look great ..!
I happened to have my copy of volume X by my side when I saw your last post, so have quickly scanned them.
BTW, the page number is actually 194 (for the Maine images), and April 28th (for Churchill brothers).
