Thanks - All I have to do now is find the skirmish site and some casings - not an easy job when you only have handed down info and folklore and a site that is spread over a few hectares.

I have scan the pages in chapter 12 from Ron Bester's book, SMALL ARMS OF THE ABW - re British Small Arm Ammunition. I will also do so with chapter 13 - Boer Small Arm Ammunition.

It is a medal roll reference.

WO = War Office

Presumably you found a name with this reference?
