A question that I tried to sort out last week prompted by the appearance of a medal to the Burma Mounted Infantry in the auction to be held at City Coins next month and previously discussed in these pages. The first is a composite unit comprised of the mounted British Companies from regiments stationed in Burma as you already described.

The second is a Burma Unit of three veterinary assistants whose names appear on the roll WO 100/296 p366 & WO 100/297 p219.

Two, 1298 Vet.Asst. Peer Khan & 408 Vet.Asst. Sheik Moomtaz Hoosain, have the clasps Dreifontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittenbergen & Cape Colony to the QSA & have a KSA. All clasps associated with the BMI. Sheik Moomtaz Hoosain has service with 29th Burma Infantry, Mandalay. A

The third, 165 Vet.Asst. Aminadin, has only the clasps Driefontein, Cape Colony & Transvaal & the KSA. He also appears on the roll WO 10/201 p170 ( Durham Light Infantry )

There is also the current listing on Mike White's postal history web page of this....

Thank You David.......
Did not think of the Bronze......

I wonder if the British troops that were made up from the three units were named the same way or would they have been named to their original units?????
