A town in the Cape Colony, 50 km NE of Uniondale. On 1 Jun 01, the outposts of the defences of the town were attacked with partial success by the commando of Commandant G J Scheepers. It was the headquarters of Major General S B Beatson from 15 Aug until the beginning of Sep 01 in his unsuccessful attempts to contain this commando.
