The 7th Contingent was a strong battalion of mounted infantry which
formed part of the Commonwealth Horse (see that corps). The 7th
contingent was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel J Sanderson-Lyster, formerly
of the 71st Highland Light Infantry. They arrived in time to take part
in the closing scenes in the Western Transvaal.
