The QSA to Spion Kop casualty Pte J Greenhalg, Lanc Fus.

Killed in action at Spion Kop, 24 January 1900. Casualty roll gives initial ‘S’ but number matches.

The estimate is on the low side at £300-£360!

We last talked about this QSA 3 and a half years ago when it last came up for sale.

QSA (1) RoL (2500 Sgt. J. S. Amner, Devon. Regt.)

J. S. Amner served with the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment in South Africa, and was killed in action at the battle of Colenso, 15 December 1899.

Coincidentally, I took delivery today of the first Devonshire Regiment QSA in my collection. It was awarded to a man who was also in the 2nd Battalion and who also took part in the Battle of Colenso. He was more fortunate than Sgt Amner, but still had the misfortune to be taken prisoner by the Boers. I will post a write-up about him later.
