Picture courtesy of DNW QSA (1) RoL (2500 Sgt. J. S. Amner, Devon. Regt.) J. S. Amner served with the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment in South Africa, and was killed in action at the battle of Colenso, 15 December 1899. Dr David Biggins Attachments:

Coincidentally, I took delivery today of the first Devonshire Regiment QSA in my collection. It was awarded to a man who was also in the 2nd Battalion and who also took part in the Battle of Colenso. He was more fortunate than Sgt Amner, but still had the misfortune to be taken prisoner by the Boers. I will post a write-up about him later.
