The Aurania took pows to India on March 19, 1902 to 3 different camps namely Shahjahanpur, Umballa and Bellary. Unfortunately we have no proof in which camp he was.

This walking stick was carved by Vincent William Wood, while a P.O.W. at Shahjahanpur, India.

Prisoner number 23434, from Basfontein Farm, Rustenburg, aged 38.
Captured at Doornfontein Farm, Rustenburg, on 5 Sep 1901.

Captured with his brother, William Adam Wood.

Two of Vincent's children and his mother died in Mafeking Concentration Camp (the former two from measles & meningitis, Oct & Dec 1901; the latter from congestion of lungs)

With bone inlay.
Five panels inscribed: "V. Wood" "C.G.W." "INDIA" "P.O.W." "1902"
