Grandfather John Day 16th (Queens )Lancers (No 3567) holder of QSA with5clasps.Cannot seem to find much details for the activity of 16 (Queens)Lancers. Other then they were posted to South Africa from India. He died from illness probably received in SA in 1909.

The website gave me just the detail I wanted about the 16 (Queens) Lancers. I have visited the new Lancers Museum in Nottinghamshire ( Thorsbey Hall) and found it most interesting. The info gives some further meaning to his QSA Medal with 5 Clasps that I have. Thanks

John,

It is good that you have found some useful information. Knowing where he served and what he did will make that small piece of silver much more interesting.

Did you know his service papers are available from the National Archives or on-line at FindMyPast?

Best wishes
David
