Boer Prisoners of War 11 months 3 weeks ago #3532

Information about the Boer side of the war seems rather scant.
I am interested in contacting others have information about the Boer forces.

Family stories indicate that my late grandfather, Aaron Pincus, fought on the Boer side but I have no documentary evidence for this.

As far as I know Aaron Pincus who lived in Clocolaan in the Orange Free State, joined the Winburg Commando at the start of the war and was present at the siege of Ladysmith. Subsequently he fought under General de Wet and was at some point was captured by British forces. He was sent as a Prisoner of War to Bermuda and returned to Clocolaan at the end of the War.

Does anyone have any information which will help verify these stories or has any information about membership of de Wet's Commando or of a British PoW camp in Bermuda?

I am interested in corresponding with anyone with similar interests.
