Mike

Thanks. But no doubt that was the reason, but don't you want to know why, it's in the detail somewhere. Why those soldiers?

Doug.

The obvious thing to do is to look at each man in turn in WO97/363/364 to see if there is anything that each man has in common, they might have been reservists for example.

If this is Sea/ymour then the answer is in The Register : "Officer's servant - probably to Cpt RGO Bramston-Newman".

Papers are filed under Seamour - surname is misspelt on the medal.

Great, thanks. I am not a big fan of defective medals, but on this occasion I will make an exception!

The current issue of Medal news carries an advert for the next auction, 67.

However, the City Coins website carried this news:

In the midst of finalising Postal Medal Auction 67 Natalie Jaffe required unexpected surgery. She is well on the way to recovery and will be working towards finalisation of the Postal Medal Auction 67 catalogue. You will be notified shortly when the catalogue will be issued which will coincide with the launch of the updated City Coins website.

We wish Natalie a speedy recovery.

I was able to pop into City Coins today and meet Natalie, Ruth, Johan and Nicole. It was lovely to meet them. It was a busy day with the launch of the new website and the final checks on the next auction catalogue (scheduled for Friday). And no, I didn't manage a sneak preview :(
