Two years later and still no luck with verifying the two date bars

Your man's regimental number was changed on the Y&L QSA roll. With reg number 5723 he had a KSA with the 2 date bars authorised on the Y&L KSA roll.
He either never received the KSA or lost it . 2 date bars were added to QSA medal with reg number 5819
It is therefor a 6 bar QSA

Thank you Henk. Finally can put this one to bed. Strange thing though the two date bars does not look to be added on later so it makes sence that they were added on with a different reg number The rivets look the same as all the other bars.

I certainly did not see him anywhere within WO100/341 for a KSA and interestingly, 5723 actually belongs to another member of the 1st battalion, a certain Private G Barraclough.

Perhaps you need to look at a refund Anthony? Providing of course that you acquired the medal on the basis that it was an 8 clasper.

The KSA to 5723 Pte H Young is on p238 of WO100/341.
On WO100/200 p92 Pte H Young's regimental number was changed from 5723 to 5819 and he is shown as entitled to 6-bar QSA
