Amazingly, King William's Town has retained its name (so far), but that is all that realistically remains of your dream. I think it is likely that a visit to KWT would dampen the spirits of even the most optimistic entrepreneur, so I think your proposed pub will have to be located elsewhere (Canada, Australia ?).

The mention of KWT reminded me of another name change. The town has (had?) a particularly fine museum, which was aptly named the Kaffrarian Museum, but which is now the Amatola Museum.

Speaking of museums ..... A recent visitor to the one in Mafeking (now Mahikeng, I think) was horrified by its condition and that of the town. Neither is likely to give rise to mafficking. BP, who presumably has a prominent place in Heaven, must be fed up.

Brett,
This is PC gone mad, oh well, never mind, I suppose I could always do as you suggest, try Austalia, move down to Melbourne and open one there, the "George Ramsdale Witton" perhaps! :woohoo:

According to rediff pages information: The Kaffrarian Rifles (now the Buffalo Volunteer Rifles (BVR)) is an infantry regiment of the South African Army. As a reserve unit, it has a status roughly equivalent to that of a British Territorial Army or United States Army National Guard unit. It is headquartered in the city of East London.
