Mike

That is a marvellous group. You are very fortunate to have it.

I will make a more optimistic approach to the Gordon Highlanders Museum now that I know of your experience with them.

Regards
Brett

PS I remounted the Barker pair yesterday. The GH badge was given to me by a friend when he discovered I was hoping to buy a GH medal group. The badge is more elabourate than the the other GH badges in my collection. The stag's head is three-dimensional. It is too fancy to have been worn by a mere Private, but I like it with Barker's medals.

I don't know why the picture did not appear in the last post, so I will try again.

Hello Brett,

Very nice indeed. I am glad for you that you have now filled in that gap in your collection. Look forward to what ever you can dig out on the chap.

Adrian,
I agree with you, these medals are getting much harder to find these days, on looking at this pair, my mind went back to the late 1980's and early 1990's, I was little more than a boy and did not have a great amount of money back then, but at least the medals were around unlike today.
I used to buy every now and again from a certain Brian Clark, who was really good dealer in Cleveland, in those days he would be happy to sell you a trio to the Gordons for £150, that was a IGS 1895 with a QSA/KSA pair or if you were feeling really flush, how about a nice two bar IGS 1895 with an Elandslaagte QSA/KSA pair to the 1st Devons for £200! Well imagine that today, very happy days!
