Hi..I'm enquiring on behalf of a friend ..he has the medal with the following clasps..Laings Nek, Orange Free State , Transvaal, Cape Colony , south Africa 1901 and South Africa 1902.
It was awarded to Driver J. Turner ASC. 11077 ,. 16th Co.
The medal itself has a small ground patch on the reverse where a faint 2 can be seen.
A sheet of paper with it says 'any other Corps in which served in South Africa'
is difficult to read but starts with RHC then is illegible and finishes with 6010.
Any help in learning more would be most appreciated...thanks.

Hi
According to the QSA roll Turner was issued with a 4-clasp QSA: CC, OFS, Tvl, L Nek.
He is also on the KSA roll, but what is not clear is whether the KSA was actually sent to him. Some 40% of the names on the roll is annotated "Issued" or "Issue authorised", but Turner's name is not annotated.
It is therefor possible that Turner added the SA'01 & SA'02 clasps to his QSA

Many thanks for that Henk, have you any idea what the RHC or what seems more like RNC Corps might have been?...I don't know if it's shown on the QSA roll you have looked at but the handwriting is not easy to decipher...I will try and find out how to attach pics and post a scan of the original.
