For Everyone's information......

This medal now brings the total of 58 Known Strathcona Dated medals.........

also

Major Sir Edgar Francis Egerton Curtis, 5th Baronet Curtis, born Victoria British Columbia. Enlisted in 'C' Troop Lord Strathcona's Horse on 8th Feb 1900 aged 25. His trade noted as Rancher and his next of kin as Sir William Curtis, Shropshire, England (his Cousin). He is variously noted as Pte and Corpl on his papers, Sejt on his medal, however notes in his papers regarding promotion, state 'Reverted at own request'. He was Discharged 15th May 1901.During the First World War between 1916 and the end of the War, Major Curtis served in Egypt and Palestine. He succeeded to the title of 5th Baronet Curtis, of Cullands Grove, Middlesex on 19 December 1916, after the death of his Cousin. He was Military Governor of Hebron in 1917. His Medal Index Card confirms entitlement to just the BWM and Victory and that he was on the 'General List'. According to the family he 'served with Lawrence of Arabia's lot', however as yet, nothing has been found that can confirm this.

The next question is how do I find out anything about the link with Lawrence? No doubt when he was Governor of Hebron.

Me thinks there must be a book.....................

Well, I finally managed to get one, a raised dates to Strathcona's Horse, which has not been on the market before and came from the family, being in a draw since the baritones death in 1943!
