Very Nice and Very Rare Casey......

Great medal and one I am missing from my Canadian collection.......

Congratulations for having it in your collection.......

Nice thing about the envelope, I have an NWC 1885 medal and box......

It is interesting that he did not get his medal when the Royal Tour took place in 1901....

Really interesting medal.

The roll shows "medal issued 68/SA/3708 Ophir", all clasps issued 16-11-04.

Does the envelope have his name or address on it?

The rank on the medal is "C. MAKR" - how does that relate to Articifer?

HI SWB
THE ENVELOPE DOES NOT HAVE HIS ADDRESS OR HIS NAME ON IT.
HIS RANK ON THE MEDAL IS CMAKR - COLLAR MAKER- THEY WERE BLACKSMITHS FOR THE CANADIAN UNITS.

Hello Casey

Yes that what confuses me -

Collar-maker - not a blacksmithing skill
Artificer - repairer of armaments, may require blacksmithing, but I think in this period would be a metal machinist.

The roll says "artificer" which is unusual for the ASC, artificers were in the Ordnance Corps.
