Hello

Frank had kindly shown an interest in my purchase of the medals to RQMS W Blaing 1st Northumberland Artillery Volunteers (RGA) aka Elswick battery. Having completed the transaction here are his medals:

and the naming on the QSA:

This group ticks two particular boxes for me; the QSA & Afghan combination very rare for the ranks, and the Elswick Btty who were volunteers and their guns (6 Naval 12 pdrs) were given to Lord Roberts by Lady Meux - his personal guns!

Anyone know of any pictures of the men of this battery, surely the RQMS would stand out?

Regards

That really is superb, he was certainly a very interesting man, you would struggle to find anything similar these days.

As Capt. Square said to L/Cpl. Jones in one particular episode of Dad's Army: "you have on your chest the recent history of the Empire"! A really nice group.

Fantastic Group Meurig.......

Just makes my mouth water and wishes I could find a similar group.....

With regards a photo I understand that there is a group photo out there somewhere but I hear that it is was published in a period magazine.....

This came up when I posted the information about my single Elswick, I was told about it but could never find one.....

Still it is a fantastic group.....
