Hi,

I'm trying to identify this pith helmet. It has the unit patch and a personal rego number inscribed on the inside. At first I believed it was an Australian unit patch but now believe it maybe English. I thinks its a long stretch that it dates back to the Boer War but you never know.

Can anyone please assist?

Thanks

Ben

Hello Ben....

I think that the helmet itself is WW1 and the flash is RE.....

Not that it really matters as the helmet is not Boer War, and though I hate to disagree with Mike, the Helmet appears to be flashed to the RAF and is an officers version -shown by the leather edge trim and the liner- and is probably late 1920's to early 30's, interwars, again from the liner and the pug band IMO. I assume the thread starter asked his one question and moved on so again it probably does not need answering.

Regards,

Jerry
