Hi mike
Was it the standard plated white metal example?

I have one with a QSA,KSA,PHOTOGRAPH of recipient to the C.gds and I always thought of them as fairly common?

Cheers

Andrew

Hello Andrew.....

According to Hibbard.....

The metal: Gilt over white metal, (The gilt soon disappears if the metal is rubbed.....

One in perfect condition sold in the City Coins auction of 18/09/11 for 310 Pounds.....

In the rarity table in Hibbard it is listed as "S" - 11 to 25 Known to exist.....

I picked one up a number of years ago with the original box.....

Mike

P.S. Take a look at this: www.angloboerwar.com/forum/20-tribute-me...e-home-tribute-medal

One of the things that is hard to find is the ribbon in good condition as the different dyes react with each other over the years and it tears quite easily....

Thanks mike

Mine has the ribbon and is gilt over white metal

Despite what the book says I still consider it fairly common

And as you are aware the book whilst superb when first published is fairly outdated these days but the pictures are superb

Cheers

Hi Andrew.....

Yes I agree it is quite out of date but it is a fantastic reference book..... I have several Tribute Medals in my collection that he does not have in his book, and in George Browns book there are 10 for Canada alone..... And I have 6 more Canadian tributes that George does not have..... It is to bad that they have both passed as I wish someone would update both the books.....

I have the utmost respect for anyone who can put a book of any kind together......
