Hello,

I am researching the 15th Battalion CEF pipe band and am interested in any records on Alexander Reid Keith who served as a piper in the Boer War. He was born on September 16th, 1879 in Arbroath, Forfarshire, Scotland and his father was James Keith, a civil engineer.

He previously served with the London Scottish(13 years), Gordon Highlanders(18 months), and in the Canadian militia( 2 years). He received the King and Queen South African service medal.

Any help much appreciated!!

Scott,

Was his number 189 and did he serve in No 2 Volunteer Service Company of the 2/GH?

Hi,

Can't confirm as I have no information on Reid and the Boer War at this point. I suspect though this might be the 18 month experience noted with the Gordon Highlanders on his CEF attestation papers?
