You have a C.K Niven listed as a private in the Kimberley guards during the Anglo Boer War 1899-1902 , how can I find out his full name to see if
it is my ancestor ?

Oh wow thank you so much, it is my great grandfather.
Are his records available online if I would like to get more information about him and any photo's.
I suppose only group photo's were taken and not individual one's ?

I can't speak to any photos - there are a number of group photos of the TG attached to their various "Redoubts" but they are not named that I am aware of - I think a roll exists which narrows the search down by attaching individual names to these Redoubts but I don't have it unfortunately.

Your relatives' Death Notice is in the Cape Town Archives and can be copied for you by a researcher - I would contact NAARS directly and ask for the details of a researcher to assist you.

Regards

Rory

Hi,

C.K Niven served in number 3 Section of "K" Company. I have him listed as a L/Cpl and his Commanding Officer was Captain Greenwood.

Contact a friend of mine, her name is Anne Clarkson, she will be able to arrange copies of the Death Notice.

Her details are: [email protected]
