I have started to add PDFs of the weekly Black and White Budget magazines. The PDFs are full searchable from the main site search.

So far, the 12 magazines for 1899 have been added. Each magazine is about 32 pages in length.

I will add the remainder in the coming days.

Thank you for an excellent addition to the site. I have seen individual copies of 'Black & White Budget' before now, and one such copy even survived our great 'downsizing', so it will be great to have them all 'on hand'.

Regards
Brett

Further issues of the Black and White Budget have been added to the site.

Volume II covers issues 13 (6 Jan 1900) to 25 (31 Mar 1900).

Volume III covers issues 26 (7 Apr 1900) to 51 (29 Sep 1900).

Note that issue 26 is not currently available.

Each issue is usually 34 pages in length. This update therefore adds 28 issues equating to 952 pages of images and text.

The remaining volumes will be uploaded shortly.

In the last few weeks I have acquired The Illustrated London News - The Transvaal War by Stephen Wilkinson, a present from my husband - better than chocs!

Then I bought The Black and White Budget (bound) up to 7th Apr 1900 and With the Flag to Pretoria vols 1 to 4, both from a fellow history addict and military memorabilia dealer (at mate's rates, of course).

(I can also make use of the local archives collection of newspapers plus regimental histories, especially for the Yorks and Lancaster Regt. There are also the wonderful Tiger and Rose Regtl Journals for the York and Lancs. In the latter I found a photograph of the local volunteers which was in a very sorry state and I have asked for this to be conserved - there must be very few images of them just before they left for SA)

Volunteer1860,

It sounds like your book shelves will be groaning under the weight. But, that said, you have chosen some excellent books and yes, agreed, much better than chocs (unless its white chocolate of course!).

Best wishes
David
