Thank you for posting the picture of the ILH monument, it does look to be the same one in the postcard.

Caesar's Hill is now more commonly referred to as Wagon Hill (or Platrand to descendents of the Boers). In terms of the battle on 6/1/1900, Wagon Hill is the western part of hill, while Caesar's Camp covers the larger eastern part.

There are several monuments to regiments that took part in the battle, including one to the Devonshire Regiment that looks similar to the one on your postcard. The Devonshire Regiment monument was already in place in September 1900, so, if it is the monument shown, your postcard could date back that far.

I do not have any of my own photographs of the Wagon Hill monuments and I identified the postcard one of the basis of photos in a book published in 1900. The ILH and Devon monuments are on facing pages and, although of the same basic design, they differ in detail. The ILH monument is shorter and broader and the visible marble plaque has the distinctive curved upper surface that is also evident in David's photo. By contrast, the Devon monument is taller and more slender and the visible plaque is rectangular.

I will try to photograph these two pages and post the results later. Also, I will go through my other books to see if there are other published photos that will settle this issue.
