I have had this bayonet a while, just thought I would share it and ask if anyone could add any information.
I understand the markings date, testing marks etc.
I have been told that the brown leather is Naval, black leather issued to the Army, any thoughts.
There are also some markings on the frog that I am unsue of.
Any comments most welcome.

Good Morning Paul.....

I understand the markings date, testing marks etc.

You are correct with reguards to the markings...... This one was made in 1901.....

I have been told that the brown leather is Naval, black leather issued to the Army, any thoughts.

I think that you have this reversed...... Black for Navy and Brown for Army......

Paul.....

The markings on the frog look to be some kind of Regimental marking, not sure which.....
