KSA (2) (Maj H P YOUNG. ISC). Henry Pottinger Young was born
2 Jan 1850 and commissioned Ensign 49th Foot in Feb 1869. The Times
reports that 1 June 1869 Ensign Henry Pottinger Young was presented to HRH
The Prince of Wales by Major General Sir Andrew Scott Waugh at the Levee
held at St. James Palace. Lieutenant Indian Staff Corps March 1871
(20th Bombay Native Infantry). In 1879 joined the Poona Horse as a
Squadron Officer. Captain Feb 1881. Squadron Commander 1885.
Major Feb 1889. He served with the Transport Train, Scinde Reserve Division,
Southern Afghanistan Field Force in 1879 but no medal entitlement. Apr
1900 appointed Assistant Press Censor (rank of Deputy-Assistant
Adjutant-General) in South Africa and then attached to the Army Service
Corps from May 1901. Retired 21 July 1891. Q&C Militaria Sep 06

OBE (1st type, Military), IGS 1854 (1) Burma 1887-89
(Lieut. J Vans Agnew 3rd Madras Light Cavalry) (Officially
renamed), QSA (4) Natal RoK Paa Drie (Major J Vans Agnew. Roberts
Horse), KSA (2) (Major J Vans-Agnew. 28th Lt. Cavalry IA), BWM (Lt.
Col. J Vans Agnew), 1935 Jubilee, 1937 Coronation. He was born
23 Aug 1859, and commissioned into the South Lancs Regiment before
transferring to the Indian Army. He served with the Scottish Horse
during WW1, receiving the OBE, and (according to the MIC) the BWM.
In later life he was appointed JP and DL of Wigtownshire. Burman
