OGILVY, JOHN HERBERT CECIL,
Lieutenant, served in the South African War with the Canadian Military
Forces, and was transferred to the Gordon Highlanders. He was created a
Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 19 April
1901]: "John Herbert Cecil Ogilvy, Lieutenant, Royal Canadian Regiment (now
Captain, Gordon Highlanders). In recognition of services during the
operations in South Africa". The Insignia were sent to the
Commander-in-Chief in South Africa, and thence to the GOC, Transvaal, and
presented 25 July 1901. Captain Ogilvy died 19 December 1901.
