Douglas, Henry Edward Manning

DOUGLAS, HENRY EDWARD MANNING, VC, Lieutenant, served in the South African War; was mentioned in Despatches [London Gazette, 16 March, 1900], awarded the Victoria Cross, and created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 19 April, 1901]: "Henry Edward Manning Douglas, VC, Lieutenant, Royal Army Medical Corps.  In recognition of services during the operations in South Africa".  The Insignia were sent to the Commander-in-Chief, South Africa, and presented by Major General Stephenson, at Friedrichstad, 4 April, 1904.  See his VC entry.
